Belize was the second country on my solo backpacking journey through Latin America. My ambition was to volunteer in every country I went to (which soon dissolved at the bottom of the ocean in Honduras). I spent three weeks helping facilitate an e-mentoring program at a grade school in Belize City and another couple of weeks visiting other projects.

Between my spiritual experience with a wild manatee, wandering the paradoxical streets of a cruise ship town with one of the highest rates of crime in the world, and getting to know one of the most vivacious, passionate people (let alone Belizean) I will ever meet, Belize was raw yet vibrant, intense yet unwinding.
